I spent this week weighing our options on different micro-processors. Since none of us have any experience in developing boards from scratch, we are instead looking for a micro-controller board with enough processing power for our application.

In terms of capabilities, we prioritized processing speed, power draw, memory, and I/O peripherals. As for the chipset, we determined that the ARM Cortex M4, M7, or F7 would be more than capable for this project. With these in mind, we are going with an Arduino Portenta H7, although it’s cost was slightly out of our initial budget.
