We have decided to build our communications system from scratch, rather than buying a flight controller and modifying an OEM drone controller. This means that we will have to create a model of the drone’s movement in a “body-centered coordinate frame” and create controls in an “inertial coordinate frame.” This takes a bit more knowledge than we are equipped with at the moment, and so development may take longer than we had initially hoped for. With this information, we decided to go for a pre-planned flight path, so that we could see if the drone responded to instructions at all and not have to worry about our communications system being faulty.
This will be our last update for a few weeks, some of us will be going on vacation.
